COVID-19 update - SLOS spring concert and last few rehearsals of the 2019 / 2020 session CANCELLED

The SLOS Committee has been following developments with the response to COVID-19 and it is with a heavy (but understandable) heart that we announce the cancellation of the SLOS spring concert. We have all been expecting restrictions to increase progressively over the coming days and weeks and Scottish Government's advice relating to large gatherings changed over the weekend. In conjunction with the Town House, we have agreed that we should follow this renewed guidance and cancel the concert.
This will of course be frustrating for all our young people, who have been practicing so hard, but we accept the advice that this is the correct thing to do at this stage of the pandemic outbreak. We have also considered whether to continue with rehearsals in the meantime but we have concluded that the absence of the focus that the concert provides would be detrimental and we have therefore decided to cancel the remaining rehearsals for this session.
It is, of course, a disappointing end to the season but we wish all of our players and their families health and wellness through these unsettling times and look forward to a re-start in September.
We would normally hold auditions in May for those wishing to change ensemble, but we will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks and advise any arrangements in due course.
